London Rifle Brigade Officer’s Shako c. 1902-14, of regimental pattern, the black cloth body with top patent leather bracing band and similar one at the base, the crowned star pattern frontal plate with oak spray and Arms of the City of London overlays, in the middle a strap ‘London Rifle Brigade’ enclosing a shield bearing the Royal Arms, green wool ball plume and plated plume holder, leather chin strap, white leather sweatband and silk lining by ‘Edward Smith of Ebury Street’, together with a japanned metal carrying tin this with brass nameplate ‘Captn. I. Abercrombie’, attached luggage labels indicate that this originally contained a Scottish Unit shako, the silk lining partly perished otherwise in very good condition (2) £300-500
