Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (6407 Pte. J. Cumberland. Rl: Welsh Fus:) edge bruising, very fine £60-80

John Cumberland was born in Birmingham in 1882 and attested for the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 9 April 1900. Posted to the 1st Battalion, he served with the Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War from 8 January 1902, and subsequently in India from 25 October of that year until 6 February 1908. Transferring to the Army Reserve on 8 April 1908, he was discharged on 8 April 1912, after 12 years’ service.
