Peter O’Neill was born in 1896 in Runcorn, Cheshire, and attested for the Cheshire Regiment at Chester on 11 January 1915. He served with the Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 13 October 1915. He suffered shell shock in July 1916 and was seriously wounded in September 1916, requiring hospital treatment until May 1917. On recovery, he was stationed on the East Coast but volunteered to return to the Front. Whilst serving with the 15th Bantam (1st Birkenhead) Battalion Cheshire Regiment, he received severe gunshot wounds in the foot, left leg, right hand and head, at Les Trios Rois on 28 September 1918 and died of wounds the same day at 62 Casualty Clearing Station. He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.

James O’Neill was born in 1892, in Runcorn, Cheshire. Having attested for the Cheshire Regiment, he served in Mesopotamia with 186th Company Machine Gun Corps from November 1916. He died on 29 May 1917 at 23rd British Stationary Hospital, Baghdad. He has no known grave and is commemorated in Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq.

John O’Neill was born in 1898, in Runcorn, Cheshire. He served during the Great War on the Western Front with the 18th Bantam (2nd Glamorgan) Battalion Welsh Regiment. He died of wounds on 4 January 1917, aged 18, and is buried in the Guards Cemetery, Combles, France.

All three brothers are additionally commemorated on the Runcorn War Memorial.
