Thomas Cowley was awarded his Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Medal in silver, together with a Certificate of Thanks, ‘for having rescued a boy immersed in the East Float Dock, Birkenhead, on 20th June, 1921.’ (Royal Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Annual Report 1922 refers).
