British South Africa Company Medal 1890-97, reverse Rhodesia 1896, no clasp (Troop Sergt. Major C. W. C. Dillon. U.V.) with two metal plaques of later manufacture sewn on riband, 1st engraved ‘Mashonaland 1890’, 2nd ‘B S A C P Pioneer Column 1890’, in addition to a lion badge also sewn on riband, suspension claw loose, severe edge bruising, therefore good fine £500-600

C. W. C. Dillon (sometimes listed as C. W. Cronley-Dillon) served with the Pioneer Column, British South Africa Police in Mashonaland 1890 (entitled to medal, but unclaimed). He subsequently served as a Troop Sergeant Major in the Umtali Volunteer Corps during the campaign of 1896, and is supposed to have been wounded. His younger brother Denis, was killed on the Shangani Patrol. In later years C.W.C. Dillon emigrated to Australia, and resided in Perth.
