Joseph Waddington was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, and attested for the Yorkshire Regiment at Belfast, in June 1882. He served with the Regiment at ‘the Battle of Giniss’ (service papers refer), and was discharged 15 June 1894, having served 12 years with the Colours (entitled to Khedive’s Star).
