L.S. & G.C. Army Order 333 of 1913.

George Frederick Eccleshall was born in Birmingham on 5 January 1878. He served with the 2nd Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment in Malta from December 1895, and in the Boer War, afterwards serving in Ceylon and India. He returned to England in March 1913, receiving his long service medal later in the year having completed 18 years’ service. He served with the 14th (Pioneer) Battalion during the Great War, proceeding to France in June 1916, where the battalion came under the orders of the 63rd Royal Naval Division. From 1 October 1917 he served as Hon. Lieutenant & Quartermaster with 12 (Service) Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters. Sold with full research including copied m.i.c. and entries from regimental journals which give several mentions of him. See Lot 213 for the medals awarded to his brother.
