Pair: Sergeant L. Byrne, 33rd Foot

Crimea 1854-56, 2 clasps, Alma, Inkermann (Luke Byrne 33rd Regt) contemporarily engraved naming, cleaned, top lugs pierced, one with rivet remaining; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (Sergt L. Byrne. 33rd Regt.) contemporarily engraved naming, pierced for ring suspension as issued, contact marks, good fine or better (2) £160-200

Luke Byrne was born in Boyle, Roscommon, Ireland, and attested for the 33rd Foot at Dublin, in July 1836. He advanced to Corporal in September 1854, and served with the Regiment during the Crimean War (also entitled to ‘Sebastopol’ clasp). He was promoted Sergeant in November 1857, and discharged 1 July 1861, having served 21 years with the Colours.
