King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (3291 Pte W. Green. 11th Hussars.) lacquered, very fine

Queen Victoria’s Christmas Tin 1900, empty, bottom neatly scratched ‘W. Brown XI Hussars’, worn (lot) £50-60

William Green was born in Colchester, Essex in 1871. He attested for the 11th Hussars, 24 August 1891. He was attached to the 5th Dragoon Guards and served with them in South Africa, 5 October 1899 - 23 August 1903 (entitled to QSA with ‘Belfast’, ‘Cape Colony’ and ‘Orange Free State’ clasps). Discharged 23 August 1903, after 12 years service.

William Brown was born in Marlborough, Wiltshire, in 1883. He attested for the Corps of Hussars, 19 February 1894, and was posted to the 11th Hussars later the same month. He served with the Regiment in Egypt and India (entitled IGS 1895-1902 with ‘Punjab Frontier 1897-98’ clasp). He was attached to the 8th Hussars and served with them in South Africa, 4 January 1902 - 6 August 1902 (entitled to QSA with ‘Orange Free State’, ‘Transvaal’, and ‘South Africa 1902’ clasps). Discharged 18 February 1906, after 12 years service.
