Alfred George Todd was born in Kensington, London, in 1875 and attested for the Imperial Yeomanry at London on 4 March 1901, having previously served in the 4th Middlesex Volunteer Battalion. He served with the 90th (3rd Sharpshooters) Company, 23rd Battalion Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa from 29 March 1901 until 9 August 1902, and was promoted Corporal on 17 June 1901. He was discharged on 16 August 1902, after 1 year and 165 days’ service.
