Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Orange Free State, South Africa 1902 (4217 Serjt: G. W. Todd. York: & Lanc: Regt.) suspension claw re-rivetted, extremely fine £60-80

George Walter Todd was born in Bourne, Lincolnshire, in 1873 and attested for the York and Lancaster Regiment at Lincoln on 19 April 1895. He served with the 2nd Battalion in India from 27 February 1897 until 10 February 1902, and was promoted Corporal on 20 September 1897 and Sergeant on 11 May 1901. He subsequently served with the Regiment in South Africa from 11 February 1902 until 1 January 1903, when he returned home and transferred to the Army Reserve. He was finally discharged on 18 April 1907, after 12 years’ service.
