Robert Edge served in Captain Henry Moriarty’s Company, 1st Battalion, 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot during the Waterloo Campaign, 16-18 June 1815 at both Quatre Bras and Waterloo, having previously served with the Regiment in the Peninsula. Casualties at Waterloo were heavy, with the Battalion suffering 1 Officer and 29 men killed, and 19 Officers and 203 men wounded, out of a total strength of 557- a casualty rate of over 45%.
