Edward Frederick Sedgwick was born on 6 November 1892. He joined the Royal Air Force from the 24th Battalion C.E.F. in 1918. He initially served as a Cadet before qualifying as Observer Officer in October 1918. He served with 35 Squadron in France from 27 October 1918.

James Stewart Philips, a native of Edinburgh, served during the Great War as a Bugler in the 5th Battalion, Royal Scots. He died on the Western Front, 6 February 1917, and is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery.

Sold with following items relating to Sedgwick: (4) miniature awards, these mounted for wear; Royal Flying Corps, an officer’s folding side-hat, with cap badge and two frontal buttons, by Andre & Co Ltd, London (detached), supplier’s label additionally inked ‘E.F.S.’; (2) metal tie pins (one R.F.C. the other R.A.F.), and a metal R.A.F. lapel badge; (2) identity tags; (3) photographs of recipient in uniform and other ephemera.
