Walter Henry Bradley was born in 1890 in London and was first engaged in the Merchant Navy as a Deck Boy in S.S. Ophir. He received his Master for foreign-going Steamships Certificate of Competency from the Board of Trade on 10 December 1915, and served during the Great War as a Sub Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Sold with the recipient’s Master’s Certificate of Competency; and Board of Trade Continuous Certificate of Discharge book.

Edgar William Brading was born on 9 March 1898 at Portsmouth and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 26 July 1913. Advanced Engine Room Artificer 5th Class, 9 March 1916 he served during the Great War in H.M.S. Renown from 21 August 1917. Advanced Warrant Engineer, 1 July 1929, he subsequently served in Submarines, and was promoted Engineer Officer in 1934.
