The Rifle Brigade, Officer’s Pouch Belt Plate c1820. A very fine and extremely rare example in unmarked silver coloured metal, featuring ‘Fame’ or ‘Victory’ sitting above a plinth ‘Waterloo’, laurel sprays enclose a cross of the Order of the Bath, the arms emblazoned with battle honours, in the centre set within further laurels ‘Rifle Brigade’, this in turn encloses a crowned strung bugle horn, at the base of the outer laurels a scroll ‘Peninsula’. Complete with its original silver coloured metal heavy gauge shaped backing plate (Parkyn Fig 549), very slight service wear to ‘Fame’ and the central bugle horn/crown, on the backing plate the original four screw posts have been removed and replaced with four loop fasteners, near contemporary with the age of the plate £800-1200
