Monmouthshire Rifle Volunteers Insignia 1859 - 1885, the first a shako plate in die stamped blackened brass featuring the crown, laurel sprays, crossed sword and rifle with overlay being a strap ‘No. 3 Monmouthshire Rifles’, in the centre a plain eight pointed star, a scroll at the base ‘Pro Aris Et Focis’, two loop fasteners; the second in silver plate possibly a glengarry badge features the crown over oak sprays enclosing a rampant lion, complete with pin fastener; the third in blackened die stamped silver plate features a cross pattee with an applied Dragon to the fretted centre, two loop fasteners; the fourth an other ranks die stamped blackened brass helmet plate of crowned cross pattern, in the centre a circle ‘1st Monmouthshire Rifle Volunteers’ enclosing a stag’s head on a torse, three loop fasteners, very good overall condition (4) £300-400
