William Tyler was born on the Isle of Wight and attested for the 29th Foot on 19 July 1815, aged 14 years. He was promoted to Corporal on 23 July 1823, and to Sergeant on 6 September 1829. Transferred to the 69th Foot on 1 April 1840, in order to serve as Band Master. He was discharged on 9 December 1845, having served abroad in France, 3 years, in Mauritius, 11 years 6 months, and in North America, 2 years 3 months. Sold with copied discharge papers.
