Army L.S. & G.C., W.IV.R. (J. Watt, Color Serjeant 24th Regiment Foot. 1835) fitted with original steel clip and rectangular bar suspension, nearly extremely fine £800-1000

John Watt was born in the Parish of Westmather, near Berwick. By trade a turner, he attested for the Army in 1811, aged 22 years. He served with the 86th Regiment from 1811 to 9 March 1819 and was then transferred to the 24th Regiment. Promoted Corporal on 24 July 1819 and Sergeant on 1 October 1823, he was awarded the L.S.& G.C. medal when discharged at Kingston, Upper Canada, at his own request on 31 July 1835. His medal was sent to Kingston, care of the Officer of the Commissariat on 29 February 1836. He died on 29 February 1868. Sold with copied discharge papers.
