Artefacts, Medieval, a late 13th century bronze seal matrix with centrally mounted loop; the circular face with a design of a stag’s head, cross between antlers, star and crescent at sides of face, reads s’ hamonis d’froingham, 22mm high, 21mm diameter, 12g. Good very fine with olive green patina £200-300
Provenance: Found near Halifax, West Yorkshire.
Possibly relating either to the village of Frodingham, North Lincolnshire which has a 12th century church dedicated to St Lawrence or North Frodingham, East Yorkshire, which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Both are about 50 miles from the find-spot
