Roty, seated couple exchanging wedding rings, rev. statue of Eros atop a fountain under a tree, named (Ethel Chamberlain, Lionel Richards, Highbury, 22 Août 1900), 41mm (Roty Compagnnonage p.92; PBE 866; CGMP p.360; ANS Exh. Cat. 1910, p.270, 61; BM Acq. 1978-82, p.49, 181; Coll. R. Marx 48; BDM V, 233, 235; The Medal 44, p.40; cf. DNW 49, 911). Virtually as struck, unusual named to English people; in original beige Monnehay & Godard fitted case, lid stamped E.R. (£30-40)

The original design dates to 1895; the medal was not issued by the Monnaie until 1901, so the medal must have been inscribed retrospectively to the Richards’ marriage
