Charles I (1625-1649), Exeter mint, Crown, mm. rose, king’s sash tied in bow, 29.13g/10h (Besly C, rev. unlisted; SCBI Brooker 1011 [Truro]; N 2532; S 3055). Some surface marks, otherwise about extremely fine and probably much as struck, very rare

The reverse die is very similar to Besly die 6 but with the legend spaced differently in relation to the main design. Two other specimens struck from it, both in much inferior condition, have been previously published (BDW Auction 4, 16 March 1994, lot 286, and Patrick Finn FPL 6, Winter 1996, 352)
