Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Somaliland 1902-04 (G. E. J. Morgan, S.B.S., H.M.S. Highflyer) nearly extremely fine £140-180

Morgan was born on 29 June 1873 at Marylebone, Middlesex. He joined the Royal Navy in December 1892, having served a period in the Royal Marines. He earned his A.G.S. while serving as a Sick Berth Steward on H.M.S. Highflyer. However, in 1904 he was derated for ‘trafficking in patent medicines’. He was pensioned ashore in 1913 but recalled for war service. In February 1915 he was transferred to the Royal Marines as a Lieutenant and Quartermaster. Morgan served at Blandford with the Medical Unit of the R.N. Division until August 1916 when he was transferred to a hospital in Leith. With copied service notes.
