Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Transvaal (4099 L. Cpl. S. Snape, 11th Hussars) good very fine £140-180

Samuel Snape was born in Wolverhampton. He enlisted into the 11th Hussars at Wolverhampton on 22 September 1896. Served in India and South Africa. In the Boer War he was attached to the 5th Lancers. For his services he was awarded the Queen’s medal with four clasps and the King’s medal with two. In the Army Reserve from 1903. Recalled for service in the Great War. Served with the 2nd Life Guards. Discharged 25 February 1918. With faint copies of service papers and roll extracts.
