Three: Major G. S. Mill, Indian Pioneer Corps, late Gurkha Rifles - a Minister in the Presbyterian Church

George Scott Mill was born in Anstruther, Fife, on 30 July 1891. He was educated at George Watson’s College and Edinburgh University, gaining a B.Sc. (Pure Science) and M.A. (Hons. Maths and Natural Philosophy) 1914. Appointed Professor of Mathematics, Scottish Churches; College, Calcutta, 1914. Served in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers, 1917-19, and was Adjutant of the 3/5th Gurkha Rifles. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1917 and promoted to Lieutenant in 1918 and Captain and Adjutant in 1918. Served in India and the N.W. Frontier. After the war he studied Divinity at Edinburgh, 1919-20, and was Licensed the Presbyterian Church in 1920 and Ordained in 1921. Rev. Mill then returned to India and worked at the Eastern Himalayan Mission at Kurseong. He was Principal of the Scottish Universities Mission Institution, 1927-41. During the Second World War he served as a Major in the Indian Pioneer Corps in India, Iraq and Persia. With copied research.
