Ashantee 1873-74, 1 clasp, Coomassie (654 Pte., 2 Bn. 23 R.W. Fus.1873-4); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small reverse letters (654 Pte., 2-23rd Foot) mounted for display, first with edge bruising, very fine and better (2) £360-400

Richard Carter was born in the Parish of St Sepulchre, Northampton, and attested there for the 2/23rd Foot on 7 April 1858. He was discharged on 8 April 1879, being then ‘in possession of four good conduct badges, with the medal for “Ashantee” and the Good Conduct Medal.’ Sold with copied discharge papers.
