Winifred Adela Beausire was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, on 18 November 1885. As an Assistant Nurse in the Voluntary Aid Detachment, she entered France on 12 June 1915. She was mentioned in despatches [Haig’s] (London Gazette 4 January 1917) and awarded the A.R.R.C. (London Gazette 1 January 1919). With copied notes stating she was the Guides County Commissioner, 1939-51 and a School Manager. She died on 7 January 1977 and was buried at Marnhull St. Gregory, Dorset.
