Three: Gunner W. Thompson, Royal Artillery

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (No. 8 Compy., 6th Battn. R. Arty.), depot impressed naming; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (4738 Gunnr., Cst. Bde. R.A.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, unnamed, the first with contact marks and edge bruising, good fine, the others generally very fine or better (3) £180-220

William Thompson was born in Woodbridge, Suffolk and originally enlisted in the 12th Foot, direct from the Suffolk Artillery, in August 1854, aged 21 years. Transferring to the Royal Artillery in October of the same year, he was posted to 6th Battalion, R.A. and served in the operations before Sebastopol in the Crimea. Thompson was finally discharged at Leith in July 1875.
