Four: Private M. Seeker, 13th Prince Albert’s Light Infantry

Cabul 1842 (Pt., XIII P.A.L.I.), fitted with swivel-bar suspension, impressed naming in the correct regimental style; Defence of Jellalabad 1842, Mural Crown (Pt., XIII P.A.L.I.), fitted with rectangular claw and swivel-bar suspension, impressed naming in the correct regimental style; Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (1155, 13th P.A. Lt. Infy.), contemporary engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, unnamed the second with considerable contact wear and edge bruising, fine, the remainder about very fine or better (4) £800-1000

Matthew Seeker enlisted in the 13th Prince Albert’s Light Infantry in London in July 1839 and landed in Bombay in April 1840. Regimental records confirm his participation in the Cabul and Jellalabad operations of 1842, and indeed his service in the Crimea, Seeker having returned from India to the U.K. in July 1845.
