The log book lists the flight training record of L.A.C. J. P. F. Grenfell from 3.7.1940 when he commenced training in Tiger Moths, on through to flying DH 82As and Harvards. Grenfell was killed on 18.9.1940, flying a Harvard, whilst carrying out a turning and forced landing approach exercise.

Between the Wars, his father, Granville Grenfell, was a well known engineer at the Brooklands Race Track.
