Severely wounded by a gunshot in the back on 16 February 1900, at Macfarlane Siding, about thirteen miles north of Kimberley.
William M. Smith was born in the Parish of Coldstream, Berwick, and enlisted into the 16th Lancers on 1 September 1896. He was invalided home on 12 May 1900, and was discharged on 19 June 1901. Sold with copy discharge papers and medal roll entry.
