Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill (122 Pte., C.I.V.); Coronation 1902, Metropolitan Police (P.C., G Div.); Coronation 1911, Metropolitan Police (P.S.) together with Freedom of the City of London, parchment certificates of Discharge and Character, New Testament with C.I.V. embossed on front cover, and ‘Rules for the Conduct of Life’, a booklet which accompanied the Freedom of the City, good very fine (3) £250-300

Private Charles Ernest Glanville served with the 16th V.B. Middlesex (London Irish) contingent of the City of London Imperial Volunteers in South Africa. He was born in Battersea, London, and attested for the C.I.V. on 1 January 1900, aged 26 years. He served in South Africa and was discharged at Guildhall on 30 November 1900.
