Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Bugler Jas. Willis, 2nd Bn. Rifle Bde.) suspension claw loose, edge bruising, otherwise very fine £200-250

James Willis was born at Bishop Stortford, Hertfordshire, and enlisted into the Hertfordshire Regiment of Militia on 28 December 1854. He attested for the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade at Portsmouth on 23 March 1855. He was discharged as unfit for further service on 29 October 1867. He was the father of Bugle Major T. J. Willis, also of the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade (see Lot 24). Sold with copy discharge papers.
