The Bandon Boyne Yeomanry, County Cork, a very rare other ranks oval brass shoulder belt plate the plate engraved with the unit title, an equestrian portrait of William III, all above the legend ‘1690 Glorious Memory’, the plate complete with correct reverse fasteners two hooks and two studs, some minor dents but otherwise in excellent condition for age £500-700

There were considerable raisings of cavalry, dismounted yeomanry and infantry corps in this area, particularly within the life span of Earl Charlemont’s National Army of Ireland 1773-1793, those of 1777,1778 and 1781-1784 to mention but a few, additionally units were raised in1796-1801 and 1805-1815, however the inclusion of the legend ‘1690 Glorious Memory’ plus the particular style of the fasteners suggests the earlier period.
