8th (The King’s Royal Irish) Hussars, an extremely fine and desirable Victorian officer’s full dress sabreatche c1880 complete with foul weather cover, this, the pocket and backing in red moroccan leather, the scarlet cloth covered face with gold shamrock pattern train lace enclosing the regimental distinctions, light cavalry crown, motto, ‘VR’, Royal Crest over the Harp & Maid, battle honour scrolls from Laswarree and Hindoostan to Central India and Afghanistan, minor surface mothing to the face panel, some severe moth damage to one outer side edge and the base edge, the train lace with ingrained dirt but no oxidising, otherwise in very fine condition, £800-1000
