The mounted group of three miniature dress medals attributed to Major R. N. M. Orpen, Commanding Officer of Orpen’s Horse and the Border Scouts, Order of St. Michael and St. George, gold and enamel, complete with gold buckle, mounted seperately as worn; Queen’s south Africa, 1 clasp, Cape Colony; King’s South Africa, 2 clasps, mounted as worn, extremely fine (3) £80-100

Major Redmond Newenham Morris Orpen was born in 1864. In the Second Boer War he commanded Orpen’s Horse and Border Scouts. For his services he was mentioned in despatches and in 1901 awarded the C.M.G. He died in 1940.
