Charles Frederick McMann was born in Preston and attested on 24 November 1898 at Manchester, aged 18 years. He served in the 28th Battalion, Mounted Infantry and was killed in action at Blesboklaagte Farm on 12 February 1902. His medal was issued to his next of kin on 5 February 1904.
