James Bromfield, Captain in the 50th Foot, appointed Paymaster in 1879, Honorary Major in 1884, Staff Paymaster in 1889 with the Honorary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, Chief Paymaster in 1895.

British Battles and Medals states 8 medals dated ‘1866’ were awarded to the 50th Foot.
