Military General Service 1793-1814, 4 clasps, Vittoria, St. Sebastian, Nivelle, Nive (William Dawson, Lieut., 2nd Line Bn. K.G.L.) nearly extremely fine £1000-1200

William Dawson was appointed an Ensign in the 2nd Line Battalion, K.G.L. in May 1812, aged 16 years. Advanced to Lieutenant in May 1813, he was one of 12 Officers of this unit to eventually receive the Military General Service Medal. Placed on half-pay shortly after participating in the Waterloo operations, Dawson was latterly a resident of Berne, Switzerland; his Waterloo Medal once formed part of the famous Whitaker Collection.
