Royal Humane Society, small bronze medal (successful), (Charles Mills, P.C. July 28. 1902) complete with bronze ribbon buckle, suspension re-fixed, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine £40-50

R.H.S. Case No. 32,066: ‘P.S. Stewart Gibson and P.C. Charles Mills rescued A. Grosvenor, aged 29, from drowning in the Regents Canal at Shoreditch on 28th June 1902. The man who is a lunatic, in an attempt at suicide, threw himself into the canal, 15 yards out, 12 feet deep. Water very foul. Mills first went in and got him near the side when Gibson went in and they then got him out.’ Bronze medal to Mills, Testimonial on Vellum to Gibson. Sold with career details.
