A Crimean War D.C.M. group of three awarded to Sergeant Benjamin French, 49th (Berkshire) Regiment

Distinguished Conduct Medal, Victoria (Serjt. Benjn. French, 49th Regt.) officially impressed naming; Crimea 1854-55, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Serjt. Benjn. French, 49th Foot) contemporary engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue (Sergt. B. French, 49th Regt. of Foot) contemporary engraved naming, the last fitted with replacement Crimea suspension, some heavy edge bruising and contact marks, therefore good fine and better (3)

D.C.M. reccommendation submitted to the Queen on 2 February, 1855. Sergeant French also received a £10 Gratuity. Sixteen D.C.M’s were awarded to the regiment for service in the Crimean War 1854-56.
