1100964 Sergeant (Observer) Roderick McGregor, 75 Squadron, was killed on 28 August 1942, whilst on a bombing raid over Cologne, and is buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Germany.

Lieutenant J. T. McGregor joined 801 Squadron in H.M.S. Glory, as a Sea Fury pilot in February 1953, ex-807 Squadron, H.M.S. Ocean. On 23 April 1953, 54 Division was attacked by MiG-15s while operating just south of Chinnampo. Lieutenants Bluett and McGregor were covering Lieutenant McCandless and Sub-Lieutenant Hayes who were commencing a photography run and were approached by two MiGs from ahead and two from astern diving from about 8,000 feet. Lieutenant McGregor had time for one firing burst, but after ‘Break’ the MiGs climbed away to the north. Lieutenant McGregor’s aircraft was hit in the outer mainplane by one cannon shell, but he returned to the ship safely.

In the evening of the 25th Lieutenant McGregor was taking part in a strike on the Soho bridge, six miles south of Sariwon. There was considerable flak in the area and on recovering from the attack both the Division leader and the Number 2 observed Lieutenant McGregor’s aeroplane rolling and in a steep dive. He crashed in the vicinity of the target, and it was assumed that either he or his aircraft had been hit during the dive. He has no known grave and is commemorated by name on the Commonwealth Memorial, Pusan Cemetery. Sold with further research and copies from the Squadron Operations Record Book.
