Four: Sergeant I. C. Seager, No. 512 Squadron, Royal Air Force, killed in action during a supply sortie in support of the D-Day ‘Overlord’ landings on 6 June 1944
1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; Defence and War Medals, these in their card box of issue with named condolence slip addressed to his mother, together with the recipient’s Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book for the period May 1943 to June 1944, R.A.F. Sight Log Book, a Telegram reporting him missing, Memorial scroll, Buckingham Palace condolence letter, two photographs and a large number of letters home to his family, extremely fine (4)

Sergeant Seager was trained in Southern Rhodesia and in England as a Navigator, and joined No. 512 Squadron in February 1944 as 1st Navigator on Dakotas. On the night of 5/6 June 1944, he dropped paratroops in France during operation “Tonga”, the overall designation of the British 6th Airborne Division’s activities in operation “Overlord”. On the following night he flew on operation “Rob Roy”, dropping supplies to the 6th Airborne Division, but failed to return from this mission.
