Served in H.M.S. Arethusa from May 1914, Commodore Tyrhitt’s Flagship in the Battle of the Bight, 26 August 1914, and in the raid on Cuxhaven, 15 December 1914. He subsequently served in H.M.S. Penn from November 1915, and H.M.S. Tenedos from March 1918.
