Pilot’s Flying Log Book, an original Pilot’s Flying Log Book belonging to Group Captain Douglas Bader, D.S.O., D.F.C., for the period 2 June 1945 to 28 August 1945, containing more than 70 entries; together with a complete and rare fully bound photocopy of his wartime Flying Log Book for the period November 1939 to 8 August 1941, when he was shot down and became a P.O.W., and for the period June 1945 to May 1959, good condition

Douglas Bader was liberated from Colditz Castle in April 1945. The original log book above records the first three months of his return to flying as Commanding Officer of the Fighter Leader School at Tangmere, the entries subsequently being transferred to his old wartime log once that had been located and returned to him. Bader’s original war time Flying Log Book was presented to the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon, and this official copy was made for him to retain as his only record. Following group Captain Bader’s death, Lady Bader sold these and other personal memorabilia at auction.
