Naval Sextant, a good brass and gun metal naval sextant, constructed by J. Coombes Optician and Instrument Maker, Devonport. The scale further inscribed with the owners name ‘H. Bouverie Deedes R.N.’ Contained in its original mahogany brass bound case, the lid with inset brass plaque inscribed ‘Bouverie Deedes R.N.’, also with ivory makers plaque, complete with accesories. The interior of the lid with origial card certificate of the National Physical Laboratory, this dated December 1909, very good condition

Commander Hugh Bouverie Deedes was first commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1915; Commander retired, May 1929. Served during the Second World War as Naval Range Table Officer with the Ordnance Board, Royal Arsenal, Woolwich.
