B.E.M. London Gazette 1 January 1942. The recommendation states: ‘Sergeant Eric Cyril Jones, No. 5 A.O.S. This N.C.O. has been employed on Synthetic Training Development work for the past year at R.A.F. Station, Dumfries, and at this unit (5 A.O.S.). Combining a high standard of technical capability with a capacity for hard work, he has been responsible for the development of the Synthetic Training Equipment and the construction of it in quantity for the use of all units in the group. Without his untiring energy it would not have been possible to complete the large quantity of equipment required for Synthetic Training of Air Gunners and Air Observers. He has shown a fine example.’
