William Leo Gorrill Foster, who was educated at Rydal School, was killed in action in the Aveluy Wood sector on 2 July 1918, while attached to the 10th Battalion, South Wales Borderers. He was one of two fatalities caused by a direct hit on a house being used as an H.Q.
