Major Thomas Jones entered the Army as a Cornet in the 4th Dragoon Guards in 1841 and attained the rank of Major in 1859. With the Regiment he served in the Crimea War, being present at the Battle of Tchernaya and the Siege of Sebastopol. He was placed on Half Pay in 1863.
