Edward Prettiejohns was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in November 1864.

He joined the Royal Navy as a Landsman aboard H.M.S.
Malabar in September 1841 and served variously as an Ordinary Seaman, Able Seaman, Musician, Ship’s Corporal and Yeoman of the Signals, prior to settling down as a Tailor aboard the Marlborough in March 1861. Prettiejohns would serve continuously on the latter ship from 1858-64 and ended his career as a Musician aboard the Narcissus in July 1869, when he was discharged ashore.
