U.S.A., Military Order of the Dragon, China 1900 (Capt. Bryan C. Fairfax, 1st Chinese Regt. No. 1140) complete with original ribbon and Pagoda top suspension, good very fine £800-1000

Served with the China Expeditionary Force with the 1st Chinese Regiment, including the relief of Pekin (Medal with clasp). Served in the South African War 1901-02, in command of the Durham Light Infantry company of the Burma Mounted Rifles, including operations in Transvaaal and Cape Colony, December 1901; operations in Orange River Colony, January to May 1902 (Queen’s Medal with five clasps). Re-employed in the Great War, in command of the 17th Bn. King’s Liverpool Regiment, February 1915 to August 1916; on Staff as A.Q.M.G. and Advisor Chines Labour, France and Belgium, August 1914 to February 1915, November 1915 to August 1916, February 1917 to August 1918, and 27 October to 11 November 1918 (wounded, mentioned in despatches London Gazette 24 December 1917 and 9 July 1919, Brevet Lieut.-Colonel, Chinese Order of the Striped Tiger 3rd and 4th Classes, C.M.G.).
